It’s very gratifying to arrive in a new country and to feel so welcomed! We will be sure to take all of the warm and positive energy we’ve received and ‘pay it forward’ this 2016 and beyond! Back to Vermont for me, but I hope to come back again soon with more peanut butter, chia seeds, and quinoa for Melissa-but leave with more songs, insights and experiences! I have so much respect and admiration for everyone who serves in the Peace Corps, including Melissa, and I’m so glad that more are going to continue to ‘carry the torch.’ Melissa and I are both looking forward to the day when we can serve together, maybe after our children are grown. That reminds me! We’re getting married!
I want to spend the rest of my life with Melissa-I’ve known that for a long time, and although we’ve made it no secret of it between us, I nonetheless wanted to surprise her a little bit somewhere which would be memorable! We rose at one in the morning for a night hike to Jamaica’s highest peak, to see the sun rise-the rainclouds obscured the sun a bit, but as we were heard to say on that fateful morning on Blue Mountain Peak, “the sun will always shine on our love!”
